Intense snow bands are beginning to track northwest over Long Island bringing strong winds and intense snowfall with 2-3 in/hr rates expected. We are nearing the peak of the event and should continue to to see blizzard conditions through at least daybreak. Video: Bellport Marina

Current radar shows light snow moving through the forecast area from west to east. 1"- 2" is expected across portions of NE NJ, the Lower Hudson Valley, and S CT, while less than an inch is expected across NYC and surrounding metro area as well as Long Island.

Snow currently moving through the area may come down briefly heavy at times, reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less. 1 to 2 inches are expected, with locally up to 3 inches possible. The moderate to heavy snow has pushed east of NE NJ, the Lower Hudson Valley, NE NJ, and NYC
