This is one of those things storm chasers look for — but from a public safety standpoint, it is not something we want to see. We are starting to see clearing on satellite, and that can play a crucial role in helping storms “fire” later today. To be clear: this does not show where tornadoes will happen. It is simply one of the ingredients that can help fuel stronger storms. Stay weather-aware today and make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts. Remember to sign up for our WeatherCall system — we can call you within seconds of a warning polygon being issued for your area. Sign up now before storms develop: tscalert.org

Attorney General Jackley Announces Watertown Man Sentenced to 4 ½ Years in Prison for Officer Involved Shooting Incident PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announces a Watertown man has been sentenced to 4 ½ years in prison after earlier being convicted in an officer involved shooting that occurred Dec. 5, 2024 in the parking lot of the Yankton High School. Andrew Jondahl, 41, was sentenced Wednesday in Yankton County Circuit Court. In Janaury, he was convicted by a Yankton County Circuit Court Jury on two felony counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and one misdemeanor count of Possession of a Firearm on Public Elementary or Secondary School Premises. Prosecutors requested a prison sentence of 50 years in prison with 25 years suspended. “I am committed to ensuring the safety of officers and the public,” said Attorney General Jackley. “When individuals put others at risk, I will pursue appropriate consequences to uphold accountability and protect those who serve our communities.” The incident began when the Yankton Police Department was called to Yankton High School following a report that Jondahl was seated in a vehicle in the school parking lot with a firearm across his lap. He had been escorted from a school event, appeared to be intoxicated, was making threats of self-harm, and was believed to have had a long gun on his lap. When Jondahl exited the vehicle, he was holding shotguns and facing the officers in a manner where he could have fired at the officers. Two officers discharged their firearms, firing a total of 14 .223-caliber rounds. Jondahl sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. No other injuries were reported. The case was investigated by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), which found the Officer Involved Shooting was justified and was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests, Foot Pursuit, and Drug Charges in Rapid City Rapid City Police say a traffic stop late May 13 led to multiple arrests after a driver fled on foot and a vehicle rolled through a parking lot before crashing. According to police, officers observed a vehicle commit a left-turn violation around 10:40 p.m. near Mt. Rushmore Road and Cathedral Drive and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle stopped near 636 Cathedral Drive, where the male driver allegedly exited and ran from the scene. Police say a female passenger also got out moments before the vehicle rolled forward through the parking lot, down a hill, through a fence, and into a tree. The passenger was identified as 23-year-old Devina Mayotte of Rapid City. A short time later, officers located the driver in the backyard of a residence in the 300 block of Cleveland Street. He was identified as 34-year-old Bradley Reum of Ft. Pierre. Investigators determined Reum was on parole and had an active warrant, including a Department of Corrections warrant. Police say a search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. Reum was arrested for Obstruction, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and outstanding warrants, while Mayotte was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Distribution of a Controlled Drug. Both were transported to the Pennington County Jail. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sanders and AOC introduced a bill to pause ALL AI data center construction. 300+ local bills filed. Half of planned 2026 data centers facing delays or cancellation. Each one brings billions to local economies. The people who say they want American jobs are trying to block the biggest job creation engine since the interstate highway system.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
This week, Anthropic delivered a master class in arrogance and betrayal as well as a textbook case of how not to do business with the United States Government or the Pentagon. Our position has never wavered and will never waver: the Department of War must have full, unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models for every LAWFUL purpose in defense of the Republic. Instead, @AnthropicAI and its CEO @DarioAmodei, have chosen duplicity. Cloaked in the sanctimonious rhetoric of “effective altruism,” they have attempted to strong-arm the United States military into submission - a cowardly act of corporate virtue-signaling that places Silicon Valley ideology above American lives. The Terms of Service of Anthropic’s defective altruism will never outweigh the safety, the readiness, or the lives of American troops on the battlefield. Their true objective is unmistakable: to seize veto power over the operational decisions of the United States military. That is unacceptable. As President Trump stated on Truth Social, the Commander-in-Chief and the American people alone will determine the destiny of our armed forces, not unelected tech executives. Anthropic’s stance is fundamentally incompatible with American principles. Their relationship with the United States Armed Forces and the Federal Government has therefore been permanently altered. In conjunction with the President's directive for the Federal Government to cease all use of Anthropic's technology, I am directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a Supply-Chain Risk to National Security. Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic. Anthropic will continue to provide the Department of War its services for a period of no more than six months to allow for a seamless transition to a better and more patriotic service. America’s warfighters will never be held hostage by the ideological whims of Big Tech. This decision is final.
