Nice writeup. Seems to also work in forks whose upstream commits have been removed via interactive rebase. I know in the past people have turned to re-writing history as a means of creds-in-code remediation. Turns out that doesn't fully eliminate the risk.

@embersunn I think it’s also worth mentioning that in cases like this it’s still likely a “computer science degree or equivalent experience”. They’re actually saying what they’re filtering out whereas a lot of companies just do it behind the curtain
