MARY: THE WOMAN GOD CHOSE TO BRING THE SAVIOR INTO THE WORLD. Before creation began, God knew His plan to restore humanity. When sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, God did not leave mankind without hope. In the midst of the fall, He announced a promise: a woman and her offspring would defeat the serpent. “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He shall crush your head.” ~ Genesis 3:15 That promise was fulfilled through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and through the humble obedience of the woman chosen to be His Mother. Her name was Mary. In the small town of Nazareth, heaven waited for the response of a young virgin. The angel Gabriel came with a message that would change the history of the world: “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.” ~ Luke 1:28 God did not force Mary. He invited her. And through her complete trust, she gave humanity the answer that opened the way for salvation: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” ~ Luke 1:38 At that moment, the impossible happened. The eternal Son of the Father entered time. The invisible God became visible. The Creator took flesh from His creature. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” ~ John 1:14 The One who created the universe chose to dwell first within the humble Ark of Mary’s womb. Like the Ark of the Old Covenant carried the presence of God, Mary carried the living presence of God Himself; Jesus Christ, the New Covenant. When Mary visited Elizabeth, Scripture reveals this mystery: “Why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” ~ Luke 1:43 Elizabeth’s words echo King David’s wonder before the Ark of God: “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” ~ 2 Samuel 6:9 Mary’s greatness is not found apart from Christ. It is found because she carried Christ. She is blessed because the Savior chose her. She is honored because God honored her. She is remembered because she surrendered everything to His will. Mary is the New Eve. The first Eve listened to the voice of the serpent and brought disobedience into the world. Mary listened to the voice of God and brought the Redeemer into the world. Through Eve came the wound. Through Mary came the Savior. At Cana, Mary revealed her entire mission: “Do whatever He tells you.” ~ John 2:5 Those words are the heart of Marian devotion. Mary never replaces Jesus. She never competes with Jesus. She always leads souls to Jesus. At Calvary, when the world rejected Christ, Mary remained faithful beneath His Cross. “Standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother…” ~ John 19:25 There, Jesus gave His Mother to His disciples: “Behold, your mother.” ~ John 19:27 Mary became a mother not only to the Apostle John, but to all who belong to Christ. After the Resurrection, she remained with the Church in prayer: “All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with Mary the mother of Jesus.” ~ Acts 1:14 From Genesis to Revelation, Mary’s entire life reveals one truth: She exists to bring the world to Jesus. She carried Him into the world. She stood beside Him at the Cross. She prayed with His Church. And now she continues to point every heart toward her Son. “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” ~ Luke 1:46–47 Jesus Christ alone is the Redeemer of humanity. But in His infinite wisdom, God chose Mary to be the humble doorway through which salvation entered the world. The greatest thing we can learn from Mary is her complete surrender: Let God’s will be done. Because the heart that truly follows Mary will always arrive at Jesus. To Jesus Christ through Mary!
