Make your own boats, siege equipment and gunpowder from scratch using whatever you can scrounge together. -Encourage and motivate your men to stay with you even though they have a 50% chance of dying from some horrific tropical disease, 25% chance of dying in battle and a non-zero chance of being sacrificed to a demonic sun god on top of a giant pyramid. -Be constantly outnumbered, surrounded and possibly facing arrest if you go home. Who could do this today?
