It's so crazy to think about... The God who spoke galaxies into existence would rather die than spend eternity without you. He didn’t need us. He was already perfectly complete in eternal, unbroken relationship as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Yet He looked at our sin, our rebellion, our self-destruction and still chose to step into our broken world, take on flesh, and endure the brutal cross rather than leave us separated from Him forever. Jesus didn’t die because God was lonely. He died because holy love refused to let sin and death have the final word over the people made in His image. “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) While we were still His enemies. While we were still running as hard as we could in the opposite direction. The cross is the ultimate proof. God would rather suffer and die than spend eternity without you. And the empty tomb seals the victory. Death couldn’t hold Him down. And it doesn’t get the final word over you either. This truth doesn’t just comfort. It confronts. It demands we stop playing games with sin and start living like people who were purchased at the highest price imaginable.
