Our CDR Bear organized this project. On Tuesday, Sentinels of Service, went over to start with clearing the overgrown yard of veteran in need and CDR Bear with residents of Five Star went out first thing this morning to assist cleaning up the property.

What a beautiful morning at Jacksonville Beach yesterday! The sun rose with a gentle glow, painting the sky in soft hues and welcoming a group of our amazing veterans to a refreshing yoga session right by the shore.

Last weekend a crew of our veterans headed to the Main Event for an evening of bowling, arcade games, and pizza, and the night turned into an instant celebration of camaraderie and fun.

After a long road marked by countless obstacles, the project is finally entering its bright finale: officials have just approved the last phase of construction, and Sgt. David J. McLaughlin, and his family are slated to move into their new home within the next three weeks.

Five STAR Veterans Center’s residents recently visited Jacksonville’s Breakout Rooms, and emerged laughing, triumphant, and a little more tightly bonded. As one veteran summed up the experience, “Everyone had a great time, and everyone naturally fell into their roles.”

Congratulations to Barry White Jr., who was one of 7 in the first graduating class of 2026 from HBI (Home Builders Institute). He completed the carpentry & electrical courses offered at HBI. HBI is free to veterans. Special thanks to Coach Steve, Coach Joe and Coach Rocky.
