I think depression & anxiety could be partly cured by financial stability

It used to be easy to get a job in America. Now job hunting has become more exhausting than working. You fake optimism for employers. You drown in rejection. You watch your savings vanish. It’s psychological torture, not a career search.

Stop telling us to "budget better." Personal finance hacks are marginal against macro gouging. You can budget like a monk, and one insurance letter can still nuke the plan.

Americans don't need CEOs with record pay. We need kids who aren’t hungry. Parents who can afford rent. Jobs that pay a living wage.

The cruelest part of the economy? It’s not just that we’re broke. It’s that the struggle feels permanent now. Like exhaustion is the baseline. Like survival is the dream. And everyone keeps saying, “that’s just adulting.” No. It’s decline.

The problem isn’t that people don’t want to work. The problem is they can’t live off what work pays.

The biggest scam of this decade? Calling survival a “lifestyle choice.” Can’t afford rent? You should have budgeted better. Can’t afford healthcare? You should’ve chosen a different job and career. Can’t afford food? You should’ve stopped buying coffee and avocado toast. They gaslight you while they get rich off your exhaustion.

They told you to “get a better job.” So you did. Then food doubled. Rent doubled. Utilities doubled. Now your paycheck is a coupon.

Living in America in 2025 feels like trying to breathe with a hand over your mouth. Groceries up. Rent up. Utilities up. Paychecks flat. Even toothpaste costs more.

The American Dream was sold to us as: Work hard. Save money. Buy a house. Retire happy. Reality check: Work hard. Still broke. Rent forever. Die working.

It used to be you could afford a good life by being average. Average job. Average house. Average salary. One income could buy a home, raise a family, and retire with a pension. Today? Two incomes. Side hustles. No savings. No house. No retirement. You’re working harder than ever just to stay in place.

It's insane that people who make tens of millions a year (even billions!) pay the same amount into Social Security as someone who makes $176,000. Our country could easily keep its promises and fund Social Security for generations if we unrigged the system and fixed this.
