UNM Asst. AD for facilities Matt McKernan and the PBR have worked through logistics and UNM will put in a bid to host the third round of the NIT on Tuesday night, should the Lobos win on Sunday. If so, there will be court breakdown and tons of dirt getting brought into the Pit overnight Tuesday/Wednesday to get ready for the annual PBR Ty Murray Invitational bull riding event in the Pit next week (unless I'm spacing something out, the largest non-basketball event in the Pit every year). It would be a massive undertaking, but clearly good news here if it gets approved by the NIT and, of course, all contingent on the Lobos first taking care of business on Sunday against a real good George Washington team. But it sounds like UNM will may NOT have to be a third round road team in the NIT if it comes to that.
