I finally attended my first wedding party this year. I missed the church because I couldn’t beat time, but I made it to the reception… in fact people had already started eating before I arrived 😂 I went with a friend so at least I’d have someone to gist with. Everything was going smoothly. We sat somewhere in the middle of the hall until this guy(my friend I went with) suddenly looked up and said: “Wait… is this not Tinuke?” Out of curiosity I asked, “Which Tinuke?” Omo this guy brought out his phone and showed me one picture. I just said: “This lady fine o… where you take sabi am?” He calmly replied: “She’s a hookup girl.” The moment people on our table heard “hookup,” everybody suddenly became interested in our conversation I quickly whispered: “Why this fine girl go dey do hookup?” Then my guy interrupted: “Person wey still come last week…” That was when the matter started getting clearer. I paused and asked: “Wait… you mean the bride?!” At that point everybody on the table had stopped eating. Full attention don face us I was signaling him to lower his voice but baba was too invested already. I told him: “You fit dey mistaken person. People fit resemble.” But this guy said since the groom was my friend, I should go greet him and call “Tinuke” to confirm if she’d answer. Omo curiosity carry me go front 😭 As I approached them, na the bride face I dey focus on. To be honest… even with the makeup, the resemblance was there. I hugged the groom, congratulated him, then stretched my hand toward the bride and said: “How are you, Tinuke?” The expression on her face changed immediately Then the groom looked surprised and asked: “You know my wife before?” I quickly said: “No o…” Then he asked: “How did you know her name was Tinuke?” Confidently, I replied: “Ah ah… both your names dey the wedding banner na.” Oga pointed at the banner himself and said: “Show me.” Na there my problem start I turned and saw “ABIMBOLA” boldly written on the banner. The groom now said: “Tinuke is her middle name. Na only people close to her sabi that.” At that point my spirit left my body I immediately changed the conversation to dancing but baba no gree. He kept asking how I knew her. I just said: “Oga abeg… I forget food for my table. We go talk later.” I did small jogging back to my seat As I got back, I just sat quietly with a big sigh..next thing everybody shouted: “Oga talk na!” So I explained everything. Before I could even finish, my phone buzzed. WhatsApp message from the groom: “You still haven’t told me how you know Tinuke.” I looked up immediately… our eyes jam across the hall That was how our table turned into a full investigative panel with strangers I had never met before in my life. Some said: “Tell him the truth.” Others said: “Don’t spoil their marriage.” Some said my friend should explain since na him sabi the girl. Others said we should avoid the whole matter completely. But the groom still dey curious and e no look like person wey go let this matter rest At this point e be like say na the person wey originally sabi Tinuke go later explain tire .. Right on that table we opened a WhatsApp group before we left the venue .

january 31st 2025, 10:00am my elder sister called me to tell me my dad had passed 🙂 prior to that day, the night before i was with him seated outside discussing my FUTURE PLANS with him and he told me somethings (his personal belongings he kept from the family, i’m the only one that has access to his UBA account and the total amount of money inside and all his documents) . i traveled very early the next morning and on getting to my destination, i saw 5 missed call from my elder sister. called back to hear “daddy ti ku” my soul left my body 🕊️ RIP my king ❤️
