So proud of my colleagues, who are in Iceland presenting on a #musictheory / #mtped community engagement project that Elise conceived four years ago! That many years later, the project is going strong with the involvement of students and faculty in music and engineering!

We were excited to share our work on "uCue: An Interactive Musical Interface to Enhance Formative Listening Experiences for Children with ASD" at #IDC2025 with Abhishek Karwankar & Elise Ruggiero. #HCI, #CS, #Music, & #IDC in #Iceland

For my next project, I will be ranking all of the musical notes from worst to best, starting with my bottom choice, the wretched B♭

@Komaniecki_R My family came *this* close to visiting the Very Large Array during our travels last summer. I love that book and movie. "They should have sent a poet." Best line ever.

@Komaniecki_R For a stronger surface, I bet she used lead paint. Sliced apples, anyone?

@JohnChinte @Komaniecki_R Perhaps the thing I like *least about the viio7/vi that Robert points out is that it (as a chromatic color) both arrives "too soon" and, in doing so, undercuts the use of the vii%7/V a bit later.

@JohnChinte @Komaniecki_R Ultimately, I find the chromatic chord more musically interesting, and that it allows us to experience/feel the text (as we sing it) in a more special way. (And yet, I agree that the viio7/vi isn't nearly as effective.)

Lately every arrangement of “Silent Night” reharmonizes this to a secondary dominant on “hea-”over a chromatically ascending bass line that leads to a minor six chord on “peace” and it sucks

@pmgentry This is pretty much the same feeling that every pianist has right before their first solo recital.

Wish my daughter luck today, she signed up to play a piano piece at her afterschool program showcase this afternoon. (She has does not know how to play piano; never had a lesson in her life.)

What’s a piece of music that’s in an asymmetrical time signature that grooves simply and effortlessly? Like, something that’s in an unusual meter but you can still move to it without thinking much
