This is also why I feel FFPS is a great ending for Afton. Unlike the others, Afton knew better but came anyway. Because he is nothing without Freddys. The irony is that the others were tricked, while Afton was already chained there. His inability to let go cost him his life.

I don't agree with this take.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy still holds up extremely well 20 years later.
In fact it still looks better than most of the CGI Marvel-type slop they keep pumping out.
Because it uses so many real physical settings and props.
The film industry has stagnated and totally lacks originality.
Classic movies from the early 2000's, the 90's and the 80's are still superior.
