There are real estate owners out there who don't know anything about real estate.
Some may have inherited their property, or some may have bought it a while back and are not actually in the real estate business.
Yet, they have a random price in mind at which they would sell.
There's no rhyme, reason, or logic to their number - but they want, say: $8.8M.
Most of the time this happens, that $8.8M ask is only worth $4M.
But every now and then, it's actually worth $15M - and if you're in the real estate business long enough, you run into a couple of those.

@unusual_whales Unemployment is less than 4.5%. What are you talking about?
We always have a few million unemployed.
If the labor force is 150 million people, 5% unemployment rate means 7.5 mm people are usually always looking for work.
This is the normal US economy.

I asked one of our younger associates what the toughest part about the real estate business has been so far.
He told me it was the constant rejection.
The funny thing is, I've gotten so used to rejection being a part of my day-to-day life over the last ~25 years that it's completely lost its sting.
But from his perspective, he feels the rejection each time a tenant calls on a space, asks for the information, and then never returns another call.
He gets excited about a new property tour, and feels the pain when they simply don't even show up.
Or when we have a deal that has been agreed to - and the tenant just decides not to proceed at the very end.
He knows we reach out to lots of brokers and make offers, only to have the seller not agree to proceed much of the time.
The fact is, I used to feel the same way he did.
The ability to deal ignore rejection is a skill you learn, and you get better at it with practice.
The more situations you put yourself in where rejection is highly probable, the better you get at facing it - and the more you face it, the less you care about the next rejection - and easier it is to try again.
I truly think much of success in business is a function of how little you care about rejection.
The sooner you get there, the better.

Started going to therapy and the therapist just was validating that I had good reason to yell at people for the reasons I was yelling at them for
Fro@rojoafro
I know I’m supposed to say therapy or journaling but crashing out on a room full of people who deserve it helped.
