Put yourself in Iran's situation before the war. America comes to you and says, "If you don't stop trying to build nuclear weapons, we'll bomb the shit out of you." And you're legitimately not trying to build nuclear weapons. Do you respond by saying, "OK, we won't build nuclear weapons." Or "Fuck you, we'll build nuclear weapons if we want AND make enough drones and missiles that you can't destroy the nukes!" Because Iran chose the latter option.
