Let me break it down for everyone:
This “just force everyone into rehab until they’re clean” line is one of the laziest talking points in this entire conversation.
People voluntarily go to treatment all the time and relapse, that’s the reality of addiction, and rehab is not the magic finish line people think it is, it's what happens AFTER treatment is what matters.
Do people have housing? Employment? Mental health support? Community? A real chance to rebuild their life?
Because if you don't address ALL the SOCIAL DETERMINANTS of HEALTH then relapse shouldn’t shock anyone.
Recovery is not a light switch, it’s a process.
