Of course. Running the federal government is much more difficult than running a corporation, most notably, because it has been very difficult to fire bureaucrats, even if you can appoint the cabinet heads. The federal bureaucracy is currently aligned with Biden, but not necessarily accountable to Biden. It will push its ideologies regardless of the president—in fact, it prefers someone like Biden, who, due to age, is not an “energetic executive,” but defers to staff. When Biden is gone, the bureaucracy will remain. My greatest concern is that we are creating a fourth branch of government with enormous power over the American people. DEI, in practice, is a method for the bureaucracy to reshape culture, law, and policy without the consent of the governed. It sounds good in theory—like many ideologies—but is often used to advance much more destructive ideologies, even in corporations. Some of my reporting gives a good summary of the scapegoating, discrimination, and destruction that emanates from DEI bureaucracies: static-cj.manhattan.institute/christopher-ru…. It’s a method for cementing elite power, not advancing the underprivileged.
