Posse Cuts will always be essential to the culture of hip hop. Not if there's been a solid one in a minute. 3 years or so?

Hip Hop was definitely at it's zenith when the posse cut was in the air.

If you've been rocking with Kool G Rap for a long time, there's no way you have one favorite song (or maybe you do?) but one thing is for certain, the style and technique he possesses is unearthly. He's elite for a reason. "Kool is back" '90

All my day one Pete Rock fans have to remember around '03 or so when InI & Deda Baby Pa joints came out on BBE, right? The InI is definitely an instant classic but I don't hear too many bring the latter. Maaaan, Deda went in over these PR joints "Nasty Scene" "95/96ish"

Definitely understand that's a mindset many (myself included) can fall to. Then I look at the stark differences between these 2 albums and the feel couldn't be more obvious. Hell, look at the cover. And I actually liked the 2nd album from the UMCs. This was a lot of acts by 94

We probably gotta, at least first or more often, look back at these years as it was at the time and how we felt in the moment. It's revisionist history to lump shit together with factors and legacy or impact that was yet to exist.

@80sBank the jump from 'cheesy' to rugged was a bit harsh but both albums got jams.

@80sBank I been going to Roots concerts since like 97/98 and every show is different every damn show. Thought don't get enough credit for his stage presence, the freestyles he be cutting on the spot. Too bad you didn't get to see them in Picnic Series they used to do in Philly

Not paying for Twitter usually means when I post Kool G Rap verses, I have to cut it off around the 2:20 mark 😭😂😂😭. I swear the brotha is another form of species. Peace to my OG L.O, a Queens native. The G Rap appreciation dedicated to you big bro! "Men at work" '89
