I wasn’t ‘posing’, a friend took the pic from afar (unbeknownst to me). You are correct, women weren’t allowed in combat then. However the role of the A-10 in 1986 required that its maintainers (I was a crew chief) trained witv M16s. & again in 1991 F-111 aircraft maintainers were issued M16s before deployed to a combat zone, yes there were females who volunteered for those combat zones. In combat now? A-10s or women? I trained for combat & am still willing to go if I were asked, so you don’t have to. 🙄
