I have reservations about Cassidy’s long-term staying power (I want the Leafs to build a more sustainable group with their next FO hires) But more importantly, bringing him in now would be another backwards hire Hire a President, then a GM, then Cassidy if he’s still available

Either way the leafs had to wait until the end of the season for some reason. The plan is in place . Talks are already happening with other coaches. Flip side of this VGK move: Bruce Cassidy will be out of work as long as he wants to be. NHL teams already eyeing an offseason coach change would be wise to act quickly.

@joshbeleaf He can’t tell you the plan because he knows he’s getting fired with the coach a few days after the last game is played Pelly is already getting feedback from agents that represent Armstrong and Deboer .

Brad Treliving can’t tell you his plan because a number of factors haven’t played out yet: 1) Do they keep their pick this year 2) What does getting rid of Rielly look like 3) Do Tuch and Raddysh both make it to FA 4) Is a team going to overpay for knies OR Nylander
