I don’t know if anyone in this world will care about what I’m saying… but life here after the war has become unbearably harsh. There is no electricity, no clean water, and not enough aid. Fuel is almost nonexistent. Large parts of our city have been wiped out. Hospitals are out of service, and whatever remains lacks medicine and basic supplies. We live in torn, fragile tents that protect us from nothing. At night, rats sometimes attack children while they are sleeping. The water we drink is contaminated, and food is scarce. The prices of things like chicken and fruit are extremely high, and the small amounts of food we eat are barely enough to survive. There is no way out of here. The crossings open and close according to decisions made for us, and the aid entering is reduced almost daily. Many children have become orphans with no institutions to care for them. Diseases and epidemics are spreading quickly, garbage fills the streets, and poverty and unemployment are growing every day. No reconstruction materials are allowed in. Schools are not functioning, and universities are not operating. You could write an entire book about how harsh life in Gaza has become. The world no longer seems to care about Gaza the way it once did… while Israel controls almost every detail of our lives here, literally.
