Nova Scotia’s provincial parks begin opening this Victoria Day weekend. Most day-use and camping parks open Friday, May 15th, with the rest opening by June 5th. The Natural Resources Minister says the province is making improvements to amenities and accessibility this year. The budget includes 9-and-a-half million dollars for campsite upgrades, washroom updates and road work. Provincial parks attract more than a million visitors annually. Last year, overnight stays topped 100-thousand for the first time.

Prices at the pumps are up again this morning. Regular self-serve gas increased 7.4 cents per litre overnight to a new minimum of around $1.91.7 in the Halifax area. That's the highest price since July 2022. Diesel is up 2.6 cents to a new minimum of $2.15.5 per litre. World oil prices hit historic highs over $126 a barrel yesterday before backing off a little. But they are about 80% higher than they were one year ago.

In a post on his social media site, Trump reiterated his argument that the U.S. “needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security.” He added that “NATO should be leading the way for us to get it” and that otherwise Russia or China would — “AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!”
