As wildfires burn across Canada, Ontario faces growing criticism over response - The Globe and Mail apple.news/ARMNEHw7uRUKHm…

Fire and air crews worked tirelessly throughout the weekend to continue protecting communities in northern Ontario. Thank you to everyone fighting the wildland fires, coordinating the response and supporting evacuees.

Photos from the Lac Des Mille Lacs fires. Ministry of Natural Resources did not respond to my Thursday request to confirm reports that fire has taken some or many homes on the First Nation. Lac Des Mille Lacs Chief Judy Whitecloud has also not responded to calls.

I can't believe we didn't learn this from COVID-19. If authorities are going to ask us to only trust information coming from authorities, authorities also need to dispense the information we want to know. We are not wired to be permanently on a need-to-know basis. #MediaMatters

Doug Ford to speak as wildfires burn in northern Ontario cp24.com/local/toronto/…

Following rain over the weekend, Upsala Fire is now advising residents, "I am not telling you you should go home, I am no longer suggesting you shouldn't," but also to "sleep with one eye open." Fire chief Doug Kiezebrink says MNR continues not to allocate resources to this fire

“Everything is unacceptable,” Premier Doug Ford says of Stan Cho’s expenses both on the government side and the party side. Ford tersely says that Cho is not a member of cabinet. But the premier does not address other questions: - Will Cho remain a member of caucus? - Why are others like Hardeep Grewal, Charmaine Williams and Nina Tangri hanging onto their roles #onpoli

Update from Premier Ford on Ontario’s wildfires: • 190 total wildfires • 56 considered out of control • 112 being observed • 16 are under control • 13 communities have been evacuated

Good questions @ColinDMello! @fordnation really struggled to stay off-topic and calm during those questions. You could hear the anger in his voice as he tried to shut you and the others down. Mouth closed responses was the body language. Avoidance of accountability yet again.
