This way of thinking is a big part of what has gone completely wrong with youth sports these days. Kids need to be kids and they need to play normal rec league and different sports.
Jason Helmes@anymanfitness

Bad news, dude: If your kid doesn’t play travel/AAU they have no chance of playing varsity in high school. Only exceptions would be small, rural schools without many players to choose from. Any decent sized high school, every kid on varsity plays travel.

@CoachMarcusHill I used to hate the 60 during showcases because for some reason my body would go numb. Never got it diagnosed for some reason. That being said I could track down 99% of every ball hit to me in CF. That’s what actually matters.

I got some nerdy shit to say but everybody in the player development travel baseball world will understand. Parents, the player development is in the boring. There are a lot of coaches out there that are probably scared to do the appropriate things to develop your child because in practice it’s boring. Cuts and relays are boring. Bunt defense is boring. First and third defense is boring. Base running is boring however, if you ask college coaches, they will tell you physicality and metrics are at an all-time high while baseball IQ and getting simple jobs done is at an all-time low. I truly believe this is because people are worried players will leave their program. If the things they do are not flashy they think parents will complain and kids will check out which actually happens but let them. There are 16 u first baseman out there every summer that have to be reminded to hold a runner on first base. There are third base out there every summer that need to be reminded that they are the cut off man on a single to left field to home plate. Starting pitchers do not know how to hold runners or have multiple pickoff moves. Hitters do not know their approach should be based on the outs the inning the score and the base runners so they go up there blindly without any objective in the world. Ideally, you wanna find a program that can teach your child how to play baseball while also developing their strength and improving their important data points. I’ve seen it firsthand when teaching players that continuously forget easy responsibilities on the field. They check out when you talk about the things they consider boring. Explain to them that you are relaying messages that you were getting from coaches at the college level and hold steady in teaching the kids the things that will help them be able to get themselves relied upon at the next level.

A major problem in society is people think they know, when they actually don’t know. Assuming is a terrible trait to lean on. Assumption and initiative are not the same. Think before you speak and develop empathy. Empathy is a must have tool.

Nah. Dad of a very good HS athlete here. While there is some value in AAU, it exists for $. Here’s another path: 1) get your kid in the weight room 2) do drills with them. YouTube is your friend! 3) talk to the coaches 4) go to skill camps 5) eat and sleep well 6) be consistent

Being dead serious when I say you're likely ahead of 80% of the population (financially) just by investing up to the employer 401k match, maxing your Roth IRA, and not having credit card debt.

@TDavisAAS @munchgod3000 If parents have the money, their less skilled child can play on any team they want. They can even influence how much playing time they get as well to an extent. AAU generates MULTI-MILLIONS there’s absolutely zero way pay to play doesn’t exist by now.

@8Reppin @munchgod3000 Best kids make it. 2ndGen hoopers get an advantage but theyre often among the best. There's too many examples -- every year -- of poor kids making it. It's how feel when ppl in the 90s said "My cousin better than MJ, his HS coach just didnt like him." Talent will rise regardless

@TDavisAAS @munchgod3000 I believe most of them are. These high level programs often have two or three teams that act as their B and C team. Parents will put their kids on those teams while paying a premium thinking the team name will carry their less-skilled child.

@YoungPrince_ Also, “If you’re paying ___amount of money for your kid to play, they might not be good” tracks. My family got a discount on every single team I played on because I was very good at baseball. I was here when the modern AAU boom was first starting.

@YoungPrince_ As somebody that played AAU throughout all of my high school years, that shit isn’t even worth it. I faced better competition and my family paid less by staying local playing in my towns legion league. A lot of the AAU teams I was on were pay to play as well. Money over talent.

This is the worst game I’ve ever played in my entire life. Huge rant incoming: New update is horrendous, lying to our faces pre launch about pci shrinking and doubling down on it when no one wants it in, only 1 playable stadium after YEARS of your community begging you to fix elevations for stadiums or to at least bring back old Shippet and Laughing Mountain, Hader glitch still in the game after a year and a half and now MICHAEL KING has it, nerfed every good way to make stubs, made Battle Royale completely useless, STADIUM NIGHT AND DAY GLITCHES IN FRIENDLIES STILL BEING A THING AFTER 4 YEARS, contact hitters still are completely useless after 9 years, freeze offs still exist, worst servers I have ever seen in any video game ever, pitches warping for EVERY pitcher still, ONE content drop per week instead of 2, NO WEEKLY ROSTER UPDATES, CHEATERS THAT HAVE BEEN BLATANTLY CHEATING FOR 3 YEARS LIKE VAUD AND COUNTLESS OTHERS HAVE STILL NOT GOTTEN BANNED LIKE HELLO????? and COUNTLESS other things. WHAT ARE THEY DOING ALL DAY????? LISTEN TO YOUR COMMUNITY PLEASE @MLBTheShow

Texting is for logistics only. If you want to have a conversation schedule a date.
Martin Dasko@martinonmoney

@StephenStorey I find it helps to clearly ask someone out. Too many guys text nonstop and become penpals. Plan something.

@StephenStorey Lack of discipline speaking from experience. Good news is that it’s easy to pay down when you write down a clear budget and really lock in paying it down.

@iamSauceGardner These cars so new I didn’t even know they had old car problems like that. Older cars you have to legitimately neglect all maintenance in order for the engine to blow 😂.
