Ben Pasternak was my first boss. He’s now one of my closest friends. And he is one of the most genuinely selfless people I have ever met. This week has shown me how profoundly fake social media, the internet, and viral narratives can be. Amoungst his close circles, Ben is known for one thing above everything else: sharing the love. He introduces every friend to his favorite doctors, his best therapists, and the healing modalities that changed his life (and they definitely changed mine!). In fact, he’s given so many people to his therapist that she barely even has time for him anymore. That’s just who he is. I also feel that something important is missing from this story: Since this broke, Ben has received call after call from other men in tech saying “me too”. Quietly, privately- because that’s the only way it’s allowed to happen. So many men are suffering through abuse in silence. This pattern exists everywhere in tech, and no one talks about it. If your entire understanding of a person comes from viral clips designed to perform, you are being manipulated- whether you realize it or not. I hope what comes out of this moment is less hate and more awareness. Behind every viral moment is a human being. Sending love to all🤍🪷 @pasternak

AFP Chief Honors Troops for Successful Operations in Negros Occidental In recognition of operational excellence and decisive action in the fight against insurgency, General Romeo S Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), visited the Visayas Command (VISCOM) in Camp Lapu-Lapu, Lahug, Cebu City on April 24 to personally commend and award troops following the successful neutralization of armed insurgents in Negros Occidental. The recognition was given to personnel of the Visayas Command whose focused combat operations led to the neutralization of 19 members of the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs). The operation also resulted in the recovery of 24 assorted firearms, significantly degrading the operational capability of the CNTs in Northern Negros. During his visit, General Brawner lauded the troops for their professionalism, courage, and unwavering commitment to the mission. He emphasized that the success of the operation reflects the AFP’s sustained efforts to ensure peace and security while upholding the highest standards of discipline and respect for human rights. The AFP Chief was joined by Lieutenant General Fernando M Reyeg PA, Commander of VISCOM, who expressed his gratitude to the operating units for their dedication, coordination, and decisive actions in accomplishing the mission. The AFP remains steadfast in its mandate to protect the Filipino people, uphold national security, and support long-term peace and development across all regions. The AFP likewise calls on the remaining CNTs to abandon the armed struggle, return to their families, and choose to live peaceful and productive lives as partners in nation-building.
