This is the reason India needs to build airstrips at every district headquarters - to facilitate in Emergency & Medical evacuations, and other General Aviation, apart from the usual Military and administrative purposes. economictimes.indiatimes.com/prime/transpor…

India's General Aviation market has been growing steadily. Around 15 air-ambulance missions are being flown daily in 2026, with an estimated 50 such aircraft in operation. Demand has been rising, especially from places like the Northeast, Bihar, Jharkhand, and other hilly areas."

@marselh_marsel NMI wasnt meant to replace BOM. Hence airside improvement at BOM will continue.

'Taxiway E' has been left incomplete since 2009 because of the cargo complex. Green area outlines the pending parallel taxiway (and rapid-exit taxiway). Yellow area is my estimate of the minimum area of the Cargo complex that needs demolishing in order to construct this taxiway.

Adani needs to demolish part of BOM's cargo terminal (as per the masterplan) in order to complete the parallel taxiway and rapid exit taxiways for the Secondary runway. The MoCA is aware, the AERA is aware!! Why TF is the US even being allowed to meddle? swarajyamag.com/news-brief/us-…

@90s_kidSSCI US is a bully and FedEx doesn't want to shift as it has to bear all the logistics costs and FedEx will soon disappear plus it's creating room for DHL ,Prime air and soon will see other players stationed at NMIA

@gurveer1109 As per maps in Adani's recent submission to AERA, a small portion of airport land has encroachments and those will be removed, but most of the houses seen in the photo are legit.

India will allocate around ₹5,000 crore of it's proposed new version of the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS), to its airline industry. The scheme is expected to run for five years, with up to ₹1,000 cr that can be allotted per airline. thehindubusinessline.com/economy/logist…

@SoumyaTali12748 @AviationAll_ The same pattern was observed with AI's narrow-body retrofit programme. The first one took ages. The subsequent ones didnt.

@shantiswarup4u Tourists dont really drive the non-stop segment of the market. Most tourists and VFR (visiting friends & relatives) seek to save on ticket costs and end up choosing one-stop itineraries. BBI already has decent non-stop connectivity to the metros.

Odisha could never achieve its goal as a preferred holiday destination. Other than its pilgrimage circuit which starts and ends in Puri. Odisha failed itself to provide an experience which any common tourist would want to before deciding onto for its next vacation. Tourism is not about building guest houses and hotels or having a temple, sea beach or the hill stations. People make plans to visit any destination for not visiting a place and coming back the immediate evening. A tourist circuit evolves around a specific location but needs backup of the local culture, people, functional transport, safety for women and solo travelers, affordable hostels, freedom for choice of food, availability of personal space, the most important thing is walking streets that offers non-harassing locals. The issue is not about cancellation of flights or stoppage of VGF for the airlines but what Odisha offers to the global tourism market is the topic which needs to be discussed and sorted out. #Odisha

@soumojit_aero Why do you think so? The failure of these routes, despite VGF, indicates that the travelling public is more than happy to fly one-stop to these destinations. There werent enough takers for non-stops, and thats fine. It's kinda a standard across the entire country.

As I had expected, In the case of domestic connectivity, airlines will, in general, use their slots at BOM for more flights to other metros, whilst shifting smaller Tier II/III markets to NMI. Ofcourse, there will be some exceptions here and there.
Jesht Normie@jesht_normie

6E has rejigged MMR capacity between BOM and NMI for May. In April, 6E was down 10.5 daily domestic departures at BOM with the transfer of some capacity to NMI. In May, 6E appears to have filled up all of this vacant domestic capacity at BOM. Here's how: 🔘About 5 daily departures have been moved back to BOM from NMI. - 1 daily each to IDR, HSR, JGA, COK - 5x RDP weekly - 2x IXJ (4x split b/w BOM & NMI) 🔘In addition, 5.5 daily departures worth of capacity has been added on the below routes at BOM: 1 daily each to HYD, MAA, RPR, IXM, ATQ and 2x weekly to IXD (h/t @BOMLHR ) On the international front, apart from the flights to the middle east, DAC and CGK also see temporary reductions in May indicating these could be linked to reduced I2I flows to Middle East. (DAC also sees temporary cuts from HYD - another Middle East heavy airport for 6E) All data is as per bookings available for mid May checked today and subject to change.

Carriers in the Gulf, particularly Emirates and Qatar, have grown by carrying transit pax from India to US/EU. This impedes the growth of non-stop flights, especially from cities like Bengaluru. The current crisis gives an opportunity to European airlines. firstpost.com/business/europ…

@ChoteSheru Some say its because Ajay Singh, the co-founder and current Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of SpiceJet, has longstanding ties to the BJP and has been a significant figure in its recent election campaigns. Incidentally, Ajay Singh coined the slogan, "Abki baar, Modi Sarkar".
