Ending my trading year here with a negative last month. I did take a lot of bad trades because I wanted to end this year with a bang.
Overall still my best year ever with so much progress and setbacks. Can't wait to lock in for 2026! 🔥
Special thanks to @joker_szn !!

in 2022, I lost 80% of my net worth in one night
I was already hitting consistent mid 4 to 5-figure months trading
at the time, I was living in Bangkok, technically “studying” engineering
in reality, I was traveling around SEA, partying nonstop, and only showing up to uni for exams
then came that night, I remember it vividly
I was on a small island in the Gulf of Thailand, partying, when I opened twitter around 2am and saw the first news about FTX withdrawals being held
I thought, “yeah, probably just some FUD again, nothing new in crypto,” and grabbed another beer
the next day I woke up in the afternoon, completely forgotten about the rumors, until I checked twitter again and saw it everywhere
no one could withdraw their money anymore
even if I wanted to, I couldn’t, my 2FA device was back in my apartment in Bangkok
most of my savings, prop firm payouts, and crypto investments were sitting on FTX, basically my bank account
so there I was, walking to my scuba diving lesson, literally underwater while my net worth was too
I had about a month left in Thailand before flying home
I got two options: complain about it, or lock in during christmas and January to make it all back
when I got home, I went all in
I had over 100 trades journaled from the previous year, all from a system that felt too mechanical, too restrictive
I knew I needed a more discretionary approach that would let me express my edge fully
so I analyzed every data point I had
locked in for 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week, only leaving the house for the gym
studying charts, refining entries, optimizing risk management, breaking down what my winners and losers had in common, worked on my routines and processes
by the end of Q1, I had rebuilt my entire system, and started applying it live
my precision with reading orderflow was more precise than ever
I knew exactly what conditions were low-probability for my system and sat out, my returns reflected that discipline
my discipline hit an all-time high, following my rules no matter how I felt
because I knew one emotional slip could cost me everything
most traders tell themselves, “I’ll start being disciplined tomorrow, just this one trade, it looks good”
that’s exactly why you’re stuck
you keep revenge trading, over-risking, avoiding journaling
because the pain of staying the same isn’t greater than the pain of change - yet
you only truly evolve after you’ve hit rock bottom
if you’re always comfortable, you’ll never grow
over the next months, I kept refining my approach, and that final version became what you now know as the 4-Step Protocol
a discretionary trading system built on structured funnels, refined over hundreds of live trades
I made it all back, and more - and even got most of my money back from FTX earlier this year
moved to Dubai recently and sitting in a taxi to Abu Dhabi as we speak, reflecting over the last few years
in hindsight, that night was one of the best things that ever happened to me
it made me the trader, and the person, I am today
but still, fuck you sam
