They operate where the fighting is the most intense, where decisions have to be made in a matter of seconds. That demands the right skill set, both to complete the mission and to save lives, their own and those of their comrades. Assault troops of @93Alcatraz of the 93rd Kholodnyi Yar Brigade are undergoing training in the placement and use of intravenous catheters. These skills can make the difference at the most critical moment. The ability to quickly place a catheter allows them to start infusion, stabilize a wounded soldier, and buy precious time until evacuation.

Kostiantynivka direction, 4 a.m. – soldiers of the 93rd Kholodnyi Yar Brigade are preparing to move out to infantry positions. "Zhuk", "Volia", "Zolotyi", and "Blek" are former inmates who chose to completely change their lives by joining the Armed Forces. They completed basic training with @93Alcatraz and were later attached to the 2nd Mechanized Battalion. The men are in good spirits, some have already been on positions, for others it’s their first time. They wrap tape around their sleeves and helmets, joke around, and receive final instructions from their team leader. The pickup truck carrying the infantry moves out at dusk – it’s safer that way, and the road is still somewhat visible. They stop and wait for the green light from the commander at the drop-off point. Once it’s confirmed safe, they move in. From the drop-off point, it’s another 12 kilometers on foot, going any farther by vehicle would expose them. After a quick unload, the soldiers push forward with their gear, weapons, and packs. The journey will take several days.

The infantry spent 224 days on positions on the Kostiantynivka direction. All three are fighters of @93Alcatraz of the 93rd Kholodnyi Yar Brigade. Despite several failed rotation attempts disrupted by the enemy, this time they managed to withdraw successfully. The weather played a big role, says an infantryman with the callsign "Blondyn". The youngest in the group, "Zhyd", who had just turned 21, recalls how they moved into the position: «They started hitting us on the very first day, about half an hour after we replaced the previous group. They must’ve spent around forty FPV drones on us». For two days straight, the enemy tried to wipe out their position. Over the entire time on positions, the men managed to eliminate more than a dozen occupiers – most of the work of clearing enemy personnel was done by drone operators. Direct contact mostly happened during fog and rain, when Russian forces were able to get close to the infantry. For more on close engagements, injuries, daily life, and how the infantry were supplied with medicine and provisions for months, watch the full story here youtube.com/watch?v=DAJiQf…

On February 24th, 2026, men from the @93OMBr1 Alcatraz Battalion were asked two simple questions: Where were you on February 24th, 2022? Why did you join the Armed Forces of Ukraine? Four years after the full-scale invasion began, they reflect on the day that changed everything and the decision that brought them to the front. These are their stories. #Support93 #SupportUkraine

I've never seen the frontline like this before youtu.be/Jq2RTlhvqbc?si… Thank you @CaolanReports for taking the time to come to #Donetsk Oblast to show the reality. I was there but I have watched it through 3 times already and every time I see my dear friend Sava, I cry. “I want to go home.” #SupportUkraine

Today we, the @93Alcatraz battalion, need to give a big thank you to @united_delivery for delivering a desperately needed armored vehicle. A special thank you to @HommikM , our boys from Estonia, Sofia & Sofia and the Tartu Art School for putting so much effort into this vehicle and giving it to my battalion. This vehicle is a gift I will never forget. One I had a hard time filming without crying. Not only is it named after Apache but my,dearly missed, best friend Andres Joala put a lot of effort making sure it honoured her. Not a day goes by that I don't want to pick up the phone and call you but now I have a piece of something you made happen and I am grateful to know you are watching over us. This vehicle will be used to deliver our men and supplies into our now very dangerous urban positions. There will be times where it is used to evacuate the injured. Having an armored vehicle in war, it's everything and we are grateful to each and every one of you who made this happen. And to Merille, losing Andres has been the hardest time of my life. I thank you for walking me through this pain, for including me in his burial from afar and being there for me anytime I have needed someone to talk to about him. I still cry daily, my heart still aches but I would still be in a dark place if it wasn't for you. I met Andres the same way when we lost Stinger. A stranger who reached out to me because he knew I was in pain over his fallen brother. He too walked me through my journey of grief and in that I met my best friend, my soul mate and brother for life. I am a #Canadian, the lone foreigner in my battalion, and in 3 years somehow I have managed to surround myself with a family of Estonians. I see now that it isn't an exception, it seems to be the rule. Estonians are some of the most amazing, caring and brave people you will ever meet. Thank you #estonia For not only providing equipment for our fight freedom but sending your best to watch over us and walk us through this journey. Long after the war is over, I will be indebted to you, for all that you have done for me. YOU #StandWithUkraine

Official Statement: We have official avenues to fundraise for our battalion and unvetted fundraisers tagging us with private PayPal’s are not to be trusted. If you have questions about our current fundraising needs, please contact our PR Manager @AprilHuggett or email us at PR@93alcatraz. Please be wise when you see our name tagged in posts requesting money, especially if that money is for other battalions and brigades. We work very hard to keep our fundraising open and transparent and people will use our good name for the own benefit. In any case we need Evac Buggies. A fundraiser requested and organized by the battalion commander himself. givebutter.com/BuggiesandBirds Thank you all for your continued support. #Support93 #SupportUkraine

Throwback Thursday: 📚 History Matters March 2014 — As Russia’s war against Ukraine began, the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar” was among the first to be deployed to the frontlines. Sent to Luhansk Oblast, the brigade quickly became a cornerstone of Ukraine’s defense in some of the fiercest and most symbolic battles of the early war. ➡️ Ilovaisk – Where Ukrainian soldiers were ambushed in a so-called “green corridor,” revealing the brutal cost of Russian betrayal. ➡️ Donetsk Airport – Where the defenders became known as Cyborgs, holding the terminal against impossible odds. ➡️ Marinka and Pisky – Small towns turned into fierce battlegrounds where every meter was paid for in blood and resistance. These weren’t just battles — they were moments that shaped the future of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The 93rd Brigade stood firm, protecting the nation during its most fragile hours, and laying the groundwork for the strength and resilience we see on the front today. 🟦🟨 The fight continues, but so does the legacy. 💬 Do you have a story, photo, or memory of supporting the 93rd Brigade? Share it in the comments — your voice helps keep our history alive. #93ОМБр #KholodnyiYar #UkraineHistory #StandWithUkraine #VeteranVoices #SupportOurTroops @93OMBr1 Interesting and Educational reads: inheart.memorial/eng/ilovaisk

In the chaos of combat, communication is everything. Radios are the lifeline that connects soldiers, commanders, and support teams — turning individual fighters into a coordinated force. Without reliable radios: 🔹 Orders get delayed or lost 🔹 Medical evacuations can’t be coordinated quickly 🔹 Reinforcements may arrive too late 🔹 Situational awareness breaks down, increasing risk At the frontline, every second counts. Radios allow our soldiers to: ✅ Call for urgent medical help ✅ Coordinate attacks and defenses ✅ Share vital intelligence in real time ✅ Stay connected with their units — even under fire But radios aren’t cheap. That’s why we’re fundraising to secure radios to equip our battalion with the communication tools they desperately need. 🎯 Our Goal: $2,980 to bring these radios to the frontline and keep our soldiers safe and connected. If you’ve ever wondered how your donation makes a real difference — this is it. Every dollar helps save lives and protect Ukraine’s freedom. paypal.com/donate/?hosted… Help us bridge the gap between survival and success. Donate today. #SupportUkraine #Support93 #Alcatraz93

🎯 Frontline Skills: Breathing, Balance, and Precision In combat, accuracy isn’t just about pulling the trigger — it’s about control. Every soldier must learn to manage their breathing, body, and weapon as one unified system. Whether in prone, crouched, or improvised positions, knowing how to stabilize your weapon under pressure can mean the difference between survival and silence. 📸 Here, a soldier demonstrates how using the leg as a brace can create a makeshift support when there’s no sandbag, bipod, or flat surface available. It's a skill rooted in muscle memory and calm — finding stillness in chaos. In training or on the front, this is how precision is built: breath by breath, shot by shot. #Marksmanship #CombatReadiness #FrontlineRealities #Alcatraz93

🩸 The Last Lesson Before the Frontline The day before deployment, soldiers from the Alcatraz Battalion gathered in the dirt for one last tactical medicine course taught by Green Cross. They learned how to check for the kind of injuries that don’t scream — the ones that hide beneath the skin, bleeding silently inside. The kind that will kill you if your brothers don’t catch it in time. This isn’t theory. This isn’t paperwork. This is war. And out here, your best chance is the man beside you, trained and ready. Out here, Tac Med isn’t a formality. It’s survival. Every training like this is made possible by the people who believe our soldiers deserve a fighting chance. Support Ukraine’s defenders. #TacMed #GreenCross #Alcatraz93 #FrontlineTraining #DonetskOblast

Hidden in a blindage — safe, silent, watching. But without radios, that safety ends the moment we need to speak. When we don’t have radios, we’re forced to leave cover, step into danger, and run messages under drones and fire. One transmission. One order. One correction — it means stepping out of the blindage and into the open. That’s why radios save lives. They let us stay hidden, stay protected, and still stay connected. 📡 We’ve raised $1,940.63 of our $2,980 goal to buy 4 critical radios for our battalion — but we’re not there yet. Every dollar you give brings us closer to ensuring that our soldiers don’t have to choose between safety and communication. Help protect Ukraine. paypal.com/donate/?hosted… #Alcatraz93 #RadiosSaveLives #SupportUkraine #SecureComms

Even in war, there are smiles. Big ones. The kind that stop you in your tracks and remind you what we’re fighting for. Behind the weight of gear, the hours of training, and the reality of war — there are human hearts still beating with life. Moments of joy that sneak in like sunlight through clouds. Moments that say: I’m still here. We’re still us. That smile? It’s defiance. It’s hope. It’s the spirit of a soldier who refuses to be broken. #Alcatraz93 #SoldiersSmile #SupportUkraine

He climbs the hill with everything he needs to survive strapped to his back — rifle, shovel, sleeping roll, pack. Every ounce matters. Every step is purpose. This is what a soldier looks like when there’s no one else to carry the weight. But he’s not alone — thanks to our donors, we’ve already raised $1089 out of $2980 to buy 4 radios for our battalion. Equipment that keeps him connected. Equipment that saves lives. We’re not there yet — and until we are, this soldier keeps moving forward, heavier than he needs to be. Help us lighten that load.
