@96fps My problem with the swiss cheese model is that it consists exclusively of individual actions, and does NOTHING to reform the corrupt system that is looting us all for profit.

I honestly believed the US healthcare "system" was gonna collapse in 2020.
I still think it will collapse, but in a much more insidious and incremental way. Which will be worse in ways we have not yet imagined.

Just look at PPP loans. Allegedly they were about protecting people's paychecks, but instead of going directly to the working people (via social Security etc) it was a handout to bosses with no oversight

@InsightTweeting I don't disagree, I think the White House was acting near identically in both situations, just that before Biden took office *some* people in Congress were *briefly* shamed into a tiny amount of action, in a way they no longer were after Biden was in office.

I'm sorry, but I don't see a "Karen" here.
I see an older woman who was confused and trying to figure out if the person was a man or a woman in the women's restroom.
If people are being honest, it's easy to see why she was unsure. She wasn't screaming, threatening anyone, or causing a scene. She asked a question that many people would probably be wondering themselves.
Calling someone a "Karen" for being confused about an unusual situation seems pretty unfair.

A lot of these loosenings of recommendations (and cutting of funds) should have happened *after* reaching certain thresholds in vaccination rates.

Random civilians are not as vigilant about proper mask use and preventing cross contamination but it still did more than nothing. There's a reason masks are common in Asia.

@InsightTweeting It wasn't 100% effective but it was more effective than 0% and it was also symbolic of other precautions people were taking.
Obviously getting more people vaccinated more quickly was the real solution, but even before that you want to reduce the spread.
