@NatashaAKA2a I used to love paper airplanes. Probably why I flew in the Navy. But not paper—thankfully.

@Just_Jamie_USA @SoveyX Coffee is a prelude to wine.
Coffee in the morning, wine in the evening (or afternoon, or after morning). 😂
English

Why do we call it coffee and not bean water?
The word “coffee” comes from the Arabic word qahwa, which originally referred to wine or a stimulating drink.
When coffee spread through the Arab world, qahwa became the word for this dark, bitter, suspiciously addictive drink.
Then the word traveled with the drink.
The linguistic journey is:
Arabic qahwa → Turkish kahve → Italian caffè → Dutch koffie → English coffee.
So the word “coffee” is basically a tiny fossil of the trade routes that carried roasted beans from the Middle East into Europe.
Which is beautiful, historic, and slightly troubling.
Because apparently Starbucks heard “it used to mean wine” and decided to charge accordingly.
