When we launched 247 back in the day, the Recruiting Composite changed our growth trajectory. 247 was never sourced until this product. It pushed most media outlets to switch to sourcing 247 vs Rivals and ESPN at the time. To this day, I believe it is the single smartest product decision in the history of recruiting media. IMO, our industry demands a composite or industry ranking, which is why I will always fight for it at @Rivals: 1) Mitigates bias: single brand, scout, or geography 2) Improves predictive accuracy: similar to prediction markets, more inputs from evaluators with skin in the game increase accuracy 3) Corrects outliers: when one service ranks a player far higher or lower, the composite smooths the extremes 4) Stabilizes team rankings: prevents one media brand from inflating a team class Now that it is our time to carry the torch, we will get in the lab and work on making the Rivals Industry Ranking more accurate and more robust than ever.
