In Zed you must choose between (LLM + Files) XOR (LLM + Terminal). You cannot have all three open at the same time because only one "thing" can be open in a "pane", and a "thing" has to be assigned to one pane and one pane only. "Modern" UI/UX is a joke. If you are a programmer working on Zed you should be ashamed of yourself. If you think Zed is good you are part of the problem.

@_Felipe @aramh When a fucking text editor markets itself as "butter smooth, 120 FPS", its a clear sign of degeneration, not an evolution. Hardware acceleration for text editors is not the same as it is for video games. Even with 40+ million funding, Zed delivered a Sublime equivalent at most.

python, is the worst, intentionally idiotic, programing language i've ever seen. js sucks but it's 10 days corp pressure and can't change. php sucks but the guy really wanted pretty personal page. people made it pop, cuz it's easy to use. fits a need. perl sucks but the nutty guy designed to be like that. he likes it. unixy folks love it. got a cult. cpp sucks cuz u got a snake oil man. he peddles it for 3 decades. After 28 hours of grinding and 20M burned tokens, I have a third reducer (AL1) that beats HVM4, at least for these specific benchmarks. I cannot believe it. General performance matrix: gist.github.com/4ad/37b27b9dfe… SAT test matrix: gist.github.com/4ad/fc7ea00bf1… AL0 is the original OCaml multi-threaded reducer based on my intuition-based translation of adjoint logic to interaction nets. ALΔ is a single-threaded OCaml reducer based on an extension of Δ-nets. AL1 is the new, single-threaded optimized reducer written in C. Reducing is fastest in AL1, HVM4 still has an edge on parsing and compilation which can be seen in some of the very short SAT tests where parsing and compilation becomes significant. Disclaimer: take these results with a grain of salt. I have relatively few example programs, it's possible the interaction net system is overfit to benefit these specific programs. Also it's been tuned for my Apple M2 Max chip, it's unclear whether the optimizations translate to any other chip. Also, adjoint logic is not λ-calculus and this seems to matter. My programs take fewer reduction steps overall.

@LogicPractice Compilers support multiple paradigms of programming languages but don't implement a serious model checker. That is why formal methods are very annoying to work with in practice. Type masturbation is not healthy in the long term so going all in type system not a valid solution.
