"Scrap NEET" More than 20 years ago, when I gave my medical entrances exams, private colleges in Maharashtra were allowed to conduct their own exams. Forget leaking papers, some of these colleges actually directly sold ranks. Sure, let's go back to those glorious times.

For the students, appearing in the single, centralized medical entrance exam is less stressful, cheaper and easier or to appear in a complex web of different national, state, and university-level exams is preferred? Scrapping NEET is the dream of Tamil Nadu's Private Medical College business guys ... NEET was brought by Supreme Court to curb the rampant corruption and illegalities in Medical College business ....Before NEET, huge donation, capitation fee business was going on for Medical College admissions

@jgopikrishnan70 NEET should be removed for State Government medical colleges. It should continue for private colleges, AIIMS, JIPMER , VMC etc This would reduce NEET aspirants. NEET-PG should remain mandatory for all college admissions!!

People thought they can escape bad services provided by government hospital by paying money at private hospitals Now even private hospitals don't provide good treatment but charge exorbitant fees Same happening with schools too Private schools charge hefty fee but even after that parents need to send their kids to private tutions and pay more money Running away is never a solution

BJP supporters very well know that protests don't work at all Even after BJP got majority in elections for 12 years, it could not do what it demanded in its protest from UPA government That's why they are opposing this protest

Some are political activists, but many protesters are innocent students. Do not use brute force against genuine students. No tear gas, lathi charge or stone pelting on peaceful students. No policeman without badge. 4. Paper leak is unforgivable - a betrayal of the highest order. Fix accountability and take action now.

I taught JEE aspirants for years, so this one is very personal for me. A paper leak is not a small crime. It robs the kid who studied for two years and hands the seat to someone who bought a PDF the night before. When that kid then stands on a road asking for a fair exam, brushing him off feels wrong at a gut level. But first let me separate the two things that got tangled here, because the timeline is mixing them up. First, what actually happened in court. On July 22, a lawyer stood up before a Supreme Court bench headed by CJI Surya Kant, with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana. He asked for an urgent hearing of a petition about police action against students during a march in Delhi on July 20. He said he had videos of police brutality and wanted it listed the next day. The CJI declined. He said "Don't waste our time, and don't waste your time." When the lawyer pressed on the videos, the CJI said "We are not interested in videos, we don't have time to watch." This was not the court hearing the case and rejecting the students. It was a request to jump the queue, called a mention for urgent listing. Courts turn these down constantly. They usually say file it properly and it will come up in the normal order. A day earlier, the Delhi High Court did the same thing with a similar plea, telling the lawyer "Don't drag the court into all this. It will come up tomorrow." So on procedure, refusing to fast-track is routine and defensible. But that line "not interested in videos" really stings. Yes, you can defend the refusal to rush and still feel that particular sentence could have been said better. There is an irony sitting under all of this. The group marching calls itself CJP, the Cockroach Janata Party. That name comes from the CJI himself. On May 15 he made a remark about unemployed youngsters being "like cockroaches" who become media, social media, RTI activists, and start attacking everyone. The protesters took that insult and wore it as a badge. So the very people he described are now on the street, and the case about them landed back in his court. Now I dived deep into how how serious countries treat exam leaks. China went the hardest. In 2015 it changed its criminal law to make cheating on national exams a crime. Organising a leak or mass cheating can get you up to seven years in prison. On exam day they send police to guard the papers, jam phone signals, and run facial recognition at the gate to stop fake candidates. People actually go to jail. This year they arrested a man in Jiangxi just for posting fake videos claiming he had the paper. Zimbabwe, a much poorer country, still acts hard. Its exam board cancels the results of anyone found with a paper beforehand and bans them for four exam sittings. In one recent year, eleven papers leaked and more than a hundred people were convicted, including headmasters, teachers, and even police officers. Cheats can face up to nine years. Basically, they treat a leak as a crime against every honest student, they punish the adults in the chain who printed and sold the paper, and they make the system pay a price. Now compare that to how our own top court handled the big one. In 2024, NEET-UG had a confirmed leak. The Supreme Court under the previous CJI, DY Chandrachud, did not brush it off. It heard more than forty petitions. It said openly there was "no question that paper has been leaked." It said if the sanctity of the exam was lost, a retest would have to be ordered. But it also refused to cancel the whole exam. The reasoning was that the CBI had found the leak limited to Patna and Hazaribagh, with about 155 confirmed beneficiaries, not a countrywide breach. The court said cancelling for 24 lakh students over a local leak would punish lakhs of honest kids and wreck the medical admission calendar. You can disagree with that outcome. Many students did, and a review petition was filed. But the court atleast watched the evidence. It engaged with it. It made the government and the NTA answer for the number of wrongdoers and the action taken. This week, on the protest question, a different bench said it would not even look at the videos at the listing stage. The courtroom soundbite will get the clicks. It always does. But the thing that put teenagers on a Delhi road in July is not a bad quote. It is an exam system where a leak can happen, get confirmed, and still leave honest aspirants feeling like nothing changed for them. Other countries have fixed this. They've made leaking the paper the crime, jailed the middlemen, and hardened the process. India still just has strong words. What we do not yet have is the sense, from a student's chair, that the system will protect the kid who did everything right. Fix that, and the marches stop.

@A00P_1 @spinesurgeon You're exactly proving his point. JEE isn't the one and only entrance to engg. Countless students go through their state boards and other entrances of pvt universities.

My Opinion about Medical College Admissions (which has remained the same from 2009 onward) 1. Central Government conducts one exam and fills the seats in Central Institutes + 15% Seats in State Medical Colleges for UG, PG, Super Specialty 2. State Govt Fills 85 % of UG Seats by the method of their choice State Govt Fills 85 % of PG and Super specialty Seats by One Exam 3. Private Colleges Fill their seats themselves I know many will get angry with this But This is the best way forward Single Nationwide exam is a disaster A Broken Ship can't become better by changing the captain

I personally know 1 child who gave NEET. Then result was cacelled. Re NEET She did not have the mental or emotional reserves to give NEET again. India lost a brilliant child. She opted to go abroad, not study Medicine. That is definitely on your conscience @BJP4India & @PMOIndia
