Behind the scenes look at the new dual carriageway 🏗️👷‍♀️ Away from upgrades at Black Cat roundabout and Caxton Gibbet, work continues on the new 10-mile dual carriageway. Once complete, it will ease congestion, improve journey reliability and save drivers up to 1.5 hours a week.

🚧 A421 westbound weekend closure postponed 🚧 Please note that the A421 westbound will remain open to traffic as normal this weekend following the postponement of the planned closure.

If you’ve driven through Caxton Gibbet recently, you will have seen we’ve successfully completed the beam lift for the new Caxton flyover bridge Using a 750-tonne crane, 11 huge concrete beams were carefully lifted into position. Check out how the new bridge is taking shape 📸

As part of the next phase in constructing the new bridge over the dual carriageway, we’ve introduced a temporary alignment of Potton Road and the B1046 Abbotsley Road following the reopening. This layout will remain in place until the new bridge opens to traffic later this year.

🚧 Potton Road & B1046 closures 🚧 We'll close Potton Road from the junction of B1046 to the south of Eynesbury Plant Hire, and the B1046 Potton Road rail bridge to Lansbury Farm. 9pm Friday 13 to 6am Monday 23 February 📲See diversion route map: ow.ly/V4MA50Y3J2h

Beam lift complete on the River Great Ouse viaduct 🏗️ This timelapse shows a 12-week installation on the new 250 metre structure, including 20 main girders, 485 cross beams and 2,067 tonnes of steel. Hear Site Agent Sean explain more 🎥

New drone footage at Black Cat junction 🎥 Our latest video shows progress on this key upgrade, with major earthworks and new bridges taking shape. Once complete, A1 traffic will run below ground, with A421 traffic on a new flyover. 👇
