As it’s #Farm24 here we are building a mountain of winter cow food and it’s an extra early start to get it in and covered before the rain at 12 #mush

Mowing on the @WildSheffield farmland today, if the wisdom of the Twitter crowd can influence the weather please let it not rain after Saturday!

@agrinick To be the shepherd that went mowing first taking the plunge and finishing and watching the sheep following your lead not quite finish in time

Not been on here much lately too much going on to spare Twitter any thought. To those that live to farm 24/7 there is more to life, had two cracking days with the wife and daughter in N York’s. Back to chopping now

Replacing failed OSR with clover leys to attempt to improve soil fertility, break the disease/pest lifecycles before next wheat, and provide protein rich forage to my new 🥩 herd, 20 acres down 60 to go

Last year @BarnsleyCouncil built a new super highway footpath on an old railway line. What they didn’t factor in was all the motor bikes in the area now use my wheat as a playground😡 guess the good folk of south yorks don’t need feeding 🤷‍♂️

Well with 60 acres left to drill the line has to be drawn somewhere, so chuff it that’s me done for spring sowing. Muck spreading, mole draining, and some remedial work and a head start on autumn sowing it is

@PaulWoldfarm Calling it time here, 80 acres going to be left in the hope of establishing in decent time next time. No point trying to combine late and be on the back foot again

I find it seriously concerning when a first class farmer says for the first time ever he will have fallow because of the weather. He is not alone. Think about the financial implications in 6 months time.
