To help encourage faculty retention in periodontology, the AAPF Teaching Fellowship is awarded to full-time faculty members in their first three years of teaching. Today, we're pleased to recognize 2023 Teaching Fellow, Dr. Rafael Siqueira.

Today we recognize Kayla Lieuw, 2023 recipient of the Patty & Paul Levi Research Award. This award is the Foundation's only scholarship for predoctoral students, who must be engaged in research with a periodontist or perio resident. Read more at periofoundation.org/awards.

The Richman Family Foundation Scholarship recognizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, specifically between periodontics and orthodontics. Today, we recognize Dr. Chenshuang Li, a 2023 recipient of this prestigious award.

Dr. Gerald M. Kramer was an internationally renowned practitioner, teacher and lecturer–a lifelong champion of continuing education and excellence in dentistry. Day 8 of our 12 Days of Award Recipients features Dr. Julia Lacy, who exemplifies Dr. Kramer's legacy.

Day 7 of our 12 Days of Award Recipients features Dr. Jennifer Chang, 2023 Nevins BioHorizons Awardee. The Nevins BioHorizons Fellowship was created to address the retention of top periodontal clinical researchers and educators early in their careers.

The AAP Foundation Educator Scholarship helps to keep the specialty strong by motivating residents to pursue an academic career. In 2023, this prestigious scholarship was awarded to Dr. Halide Namli Kilic. We know her future is bright!

In addition to providing scholarships, grants, awards, and funding to education-focused AAP programs, the AAP Foundation also helps to bring well-known speakers to perio programs nationwide through our Finley award. 7 schools received the award in 2023, 5 more in 2024.

Day 4 of our 12 Days of Award Recipients features Dr. Sahar Dowlatshahi, a 2023 recipient of the Richman Family Foundation Scholarship. This recent addition to the Foundation's scholarship portfolio supports the study of the intersection of periodontology and orthodontics.
