We agree with St. John’s University @AAUP and Faculty Association members—union busting is unholy. St. John's is arbitrarily withdrawing recognition of its faculty unions, which have stood with staff for 50 years. The future of academia needs staff voices. #HandsOffSJUfaculty

New York is a union town—that means every worker deserves the right to organize. St. John's decision to end recognition of their long-standing faculty union is deeply concerning. I stand with faculty and staff in their fight for the workplace they—and their students—deserve.

In Maine, students, families, and workers are taking the brunt of damage from the lack of public funding for higher education. Wages don't keep pace with the cost of living and workers are asked to do more with less while students pay more. Does that sound familiar?

So where are the Democrats, Republicans, and others who claim to support the freedom to learn? The risk in speaking up is minimal.
