A situation I’ve seen with many business owners over the years.. The numbers or financials themselves tell a different story than the business owner does, which often can be a red flag for buyers. You might feel great about your company’s health, but when a buyer digs in, the math needs to back it up. Maybe margins are shrinking faster than you realized, or expenses crept up without explanation. That disconnect between narrative and numbers hurts trust in the relationship. Make sure your story matches your stats. If COGS went up, know why. If revenue dipped, have the context. Build more robust reporting and review performance regularly. A clean, consistent financial story builds credibility, and credibility and trust help sell a business more than anything else.
