Crystal Palace qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup, but UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules became a problem because John Textor has links to both Palace and Lyon. Since Lyon also qualified for the Europa League and finished higher in their domestic league, UEFA ruled that Lyon kept the Europa League spot while Palace were dropped into the Conference League instead. Nottingham Forest were one of the clubs pushing and appealing for Palace to lose that Europa League place because it opened the door for Forest to move up into Europe. Now the irony is incredible 😭 Palace, the club that got demoted to the Conference League, have gone all the way to a conference league final… while Forest are now missing out on the Europa League places after Aston Villa overtook them. karma at it best.

@DougieCritchley Jeez the whole Forest thing is being overplayed massively. The hat-trick against Burnley was impressive. The rest is pretty much par given the form of the opposition. They have had an incredible amount of things go their way in the last 9-10 games.

There have been some special runs of form by individual players to steer their sides away from relegation... Richarlison and Pickford did it on a number of occasions for Everton... Jack Harrison was great down the stretch for Leeds in 21/22... Trezeguet was massive for Villa in 2019/20... the list goes on. These spells are iconic. They literally save careers. Morgan Gibbs-White 25/26 might be the best one yet. 7 goals, 2 assists in his last 8 League games, whilst also playing a crucial role in the Europa League. Won't be forgotten and Tuchel will 100% be taking note.

Well I thought long and hard about posting this but feel its important. As you know when you enter most football stadiums you are subject to a search, sometimes everyone is searched sometimes it a 25% ratio but last night at the #NFFC Europa cup semi final I came across an alarming hole in security. When entering via hospitality NOBODY is searched whatsoever. So last night it would have been easy to take a bomb or weapon into a major game watched across Europe and the world, a major target considering the threat level increase! I was able to stand next to the players during warm up, sit with the coaches and VIPs. But apparently if you can afford hospitality you cannot be a threat! I find this alarming and thought long and hard about saying this as it exposes a hole in security however maybe shining a light on it may bring much needed changes to stadium security across the UK. #NFFC @NFFC @nottspolice #AVFC

Oh my word... we are officially in "the stretch" where games of football have enormous importance at BOTH ends of the table. No where was that clearer than with Man City vs Forest. I only watched the final 15 minutes or so... But in that time Yates had a brilliant chance to win it for Forest with a header, Rodri had a penalty appeal after an Anderson challenge (you've seen them given) and in the final SECONDS Murillo cleared one off the line. 2-2, it finishes! It's out of Man City's hands even if they beat Arsenal at the Etihad in April. WHAT A FINISH to the game.
