🌅 Reflecting on last night's unforgettable dinner cruise experience during #ACC2023 - what a memorable night! As we sailed across the stunning San Diego Bay, the setting sun painted the sky in hues of gold, creating the perfect backdrop for continued discussions on control systems.
From enjoying a sumptuous dinner onboard to sharing drinks and engaging in stimulating conversation, we embraced this unique opportunity to unwind after three intensive conference days. Accompanied by fantastic music, the atmosphere was both relaxed and energizing.

🎙️ This morning, we also had the privilege of journeying through diffusions with Yongxin Chen, Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology, during his semi-plenary lecture at #ACC2023.
His intriguing talk covered the gamut of diffusion processes - stochastic processes driven by Brownian motion - and their widespread applications in engineering, science, and finance. He graciously shared his experiences and the impact of these powerful tools on his research programs.
Through a discussion of four research projects involving control, inference, and machine learning, Yongxin shed light on the versatile utility of diffusion processes in areas such as covariance control, distribution control, Monte Carlo Markov chain sampling, and generative modeling.
Known for his outstanding contributions to automatic control and recognized with several prestigious awards, Yongxin's dedication to creating innovative solutions for real-world applications is truly inspiring. This was indeed an enlightening lecture to enrich our understanding of diffusion processes.

🌬️ This morning, we were enlightened by an inspiring semi-plenary by Dennice Gayme, Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University, titled "Towards Flow Control: From Boundary Layers to Wind Farms and Back Again". She brilliantly expounded on how wind farms, viewed as a network of dynamical systems within the turbulent atmospheric boundary layer, can play a crucial role in supporting the grid with improved efficiency.
She detailed innovative models and control strategies, delved into dynamic interconnections within the farm, and opened up exciting discussions on new approaches for developing control-oriented models.
Dennice's cutting-edge research and thought leadership in the realm of large-scale networked systems have been consistently recognized and lauded, which was evident in her insightful talk today. A truly thought-provoking session to kick-start our last day at #ACC2023!

🚀 What an incredible evening spent with none other than Bob Behnken, the esteemed NASA astronaut, at our public lecture today at #ACC2023! The audience was enthralled as Bob shared stories from his stellar journey in space exploration.
From his background in control systems to the thrilling experiences of space missions, Bob's narrative had us all spellbound. His willingness to answer the multitude of questions from the audience was truly appreciated. It's not every day we get to have such candid conversations with a real-life astronaut!
