Big conversations are happening in Busoga. Community leaders & Project Affected Persons (PAPs) are coming together to draft Community Development Agreements (CDAs) around the Makuutu Rare Earths Project facilitated by @ACEMP_UG. Community engagements in Orom East Sub-county the host of Ugandas largest known graphite deposits. The purpose of the engagements is to prepare the community to meaningfully benefit from the mineral developments in their area. @EnabelinUganda

This evening, @ACEMP_UG supported Nakapiripirit DLG to establish the District Environment and Natural Resource Committee as mandated by the National Environment Act of 2019. The DENRC will help monitor adherence to local and national legal frameworks governing the Environment.

Last week @ACEMP_UG joined fellow #PACER Partners @mucobadi @KaramojaWomen @_RIAMIRIAM @Restless_Uganda to welcome a team from the @EmbassyDanish. This visit was a courtesy visit in preparation for the visit from the minister to check the progress and implementation of projects.

“Karamojong only take care of their land during planting seasons. However, as soon as they harvest, they abandon their land which is then encroached by the people who cut trees for charcoal burning.” He urged participants to guard their land to reduce tree cutting.

Mr Dennis Athiyo, the Community Development Officer - Nakapiripirit DLG urged Climate Action Champions to be persistent in pushing issues from communities through the right decision makers until they eventually achieve the desired results!

Climate Action Champions in Amudat have been equipped with tools to monitor and advocate for better environmental management—empowering communities to protect their land and future.

On alternative livelihoods in Amudat district, bee keeping has been listed as one of the most viable alternative livelihoods by the participating sub counties.

ACEMP alongside @RICEWestNile have kicked off a 4 days training of Climate Action Champions in Amudat and Nakapiripirit Districts focusing on advocacy and environmental management to strengthen community-led climate resilience.
