Mindy brought her personal journey to her local Kansas City book club, where the group read The Open Heart Club by Gabriel Brownstein. Caren and Jan took their passion to Berkeley, CA, hosting one of several Dine for a Cause events our members planned across the country. And Melissa and Jean hosted a table at Texas Children’s Hospital, providing resources and connecting with patients and families. ACHA’s Patient and Family Advisory Board (PFAB), along with other supporters, have joined together to write and submit proclamation requests that have resulted in #CHDAwarenessWeek being officially recognized by legislators in U.S. states, counties, and cities. Proclamations are a great method to advocate for lifelong adult #CHD care and raise awareness about ACHA, as they offer an opportunity to have elected officials read statistics about adults with CHD on the floor of their chamber.
