The House continued to hear testimony on the proposed redistricting map on May 12, but, to our surprise, did not offer an overflow room as they typically do during a large hearing. This left many in line for hours, frustrated and confused. We still want their voices to be heard.

From our executive director Jace Woodrum: "The lawmakers pushing to rig our maps are not out of tricks yet, and we urge our fellow South Carolinians to keep showing up and speaking out against gerrymandering. We the people choose our elected officials, not the other way around."

*Correction, that was the subcommittee meeting. The subcommittee just voted 3-2 along partisan lines to approve a gerrymandered map, having heard no testimony from any South Carolinian who wanted it. The full committee will meet shortly. scstatehouse.gov/video/stream.p…
