Our journey in digital tax began early. In April 1997, under our previous name A C Mole & Sons, we filed the UK’s first electronic tax return, signalling the beginning of a new era in accountancy. This milestone marked the start of a long-standing commitment to innovation. We continued to lead the way in 2001 by becoming the first firm to use HM Revenue & Customs’ Internet Filing Service, contributing to the foundations of today’s digital tax system. Now, as Making Tax Digital expands from April 2026, the profession is evolving once again. From pioneering electronic filing in 1997 to supporting real-time digital reporting today, our focus remains the same, helping clients navigate change with clarity, confidence, and efficiency. Another new appointment at A C Mole. 🎉 We are delighted to welcome Callum Bale to our Audit Team. Callum joins the team as a Senior having recently sat his final ACCA exams.  Adam Knight, partner, said “It’s great to welcome Callum to the growing team.  Callum has recently completed his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants exams and brings with him valuable audit experience and expertise.  We are excited that he will be able to bolster our Audit offering to clients across the Southwest.”

In June 2025, the government announced that, for winter 2025/26 onwards, winter fuel payments will be made to all pensioners in England and Wales. A few weeks ago, we were delighted to take part in the @ClarkeWillmott Winter Sports Competition in support of Young Somerset. Our team embraced a series of challenges, competing in volleyball, boccia, and laser pistol and rifle shooting - giving it their all throughout the evening. It was a fantastic event, bringing people together to raise funds for an incredible cause. The evening was rounded off perfectly with a well-earned burger and drink as we celebrated the team’s efforts. A huge thank you to Clarke Willmott for organising such a brilliant event. We had a great time and are already looking forward to the next one.

🎉 We’re delighted to announce three new Partners at A C Mole! 🎉 Adam Knight, Sarah Twist, and Adam Waddle will be promoted to Partners from 1st April. Adam K and Sarah both joined us as trainee accountants, and it is a testament to their hard work and dedication over many years that they will now be part of leading the firm in the future. Following leadership roles at a large South West firm, Adam W joined the ACM team last year and has quickly demonstrated his professionalism and knowledge. A C Mole continue to grow its teams with the addition of two new teams members, Hannah Hopkins and Keira Wigley. Keira joins our Agricultural Team as a Senior Manager and brings with her 15 years’ of experience working in practice, mainly focusing on rural clients.  Adam Waddle, Associate Partner, said “It’s great to welcome Keira to the team.  Keira brings a wealth of technical and industry specific knowledge and we are all really pleased to have her onboard.” Hannah joins our Tax Team as a Senior Manager and brings almost 20 years’ experience with various firms across the South West predominantly dealing with Personal Tax, compliance and planning.  Amanda Gunter, Tax Partner, said “This is another high profile appointment to our growing Tax team.  Hannah brings with her a wealth of practical experience and a wonderful team spirit.”

Earlier this month, two members of the ACM team attended the @ClarkeWillmott Next Generation young professional pottery painting event. This was a great opportunity to meet new people, build connections, and enjoy a fun, creative evening. Thank you Clarke Willmott for hosting such a lovely event!

What a Weekend! Yesterday the Taunton Half Marathon returned after a few years off and what a way it was to come back! We were thrilled to be sponsors of such a great event. 9 of the ACM team took part and we saw Personal Bests flying everywhere. The atmosphere on the day was fantastic. The supporters cheered on runners from start to finish, the streets were filled with energy and even better, the sun was shining. A massive thank you to the organisers, volunteers and all the supporters who made the event so memorable.
