Did you know that when Mark Carney’s signature first appeared on Canada’s $20 bill in 2008, that $20 had the buying power of $20. Today, that same buying power would require about $29.70. Put another way, today’s $20 bill only buys what about $13.48 bought in 2008. That is how much value Canadians have lost in the dollar since Carney first signed that note. If you have a degree from a fancy University, but believe: Money printing doesn’t cause inflation; Net-zero policies create prosperity ; Governments can pick winners and losers better than free markets; Then you have been badly educated. Remember, lots of world leaders with impressive degrees have inflicted great harm on their countries. Carney’s diplomas can’t cover up the fact he had a terrible tenure at the Bank of England. Or that he is giving Canada the worst economy in the G7.
