Yesterday I spoke with @SharriMarkson from @SkyNewsAust How can a government be so blind to how people want to work in 2023? These new laws are out of touch, they trade off the preferences of Australians in favour of returning favours to the unions.

Unemployment held at 4%, which is boring.
@ABSStats put out some long term employment charts. Most striking is the change in women's participation rate, from 37% in 1966 to 62% today.
Men's has gone from 94% to 71%.

@IFM_Economist @ComminsP Good call Alex. It's about the individual. Full time, part time, casual, contract, labour hire......all cater for an indvidual's work/life preferences. A pity politicians pitch it as good v bad work.

This is not a comment on casualisation of the workforce but we do have a relatively high rate of part-time work compared to other like economies. Whether this is a positive or negative is heavily reliant on the circumstances of the individual.
