2/ The Register's deep-dive "Why Symbian failed: developers, developers, developers" explains it: Symbian lacked: → Clear naming conventions → APIs that followed existing standards → Well-integrated dev tools → Complete API documentation → Well-commented example code

🧵 Symbian once powered the MAJORITY of smartphones on Earth. It had a technically superior microkernel, real-time capabilities ahead of its time, and Nokia's full backing. And it was killed, not by a better OS, but by a terrible developer experience. Here's how:

Do we want to end like Polkadot? Then vote YES to IO's Developer Experience initiative! It's cheap and effective. About Polkadot's Downfall (link to article in comment): "A recent analysis by crypto trader Nonzee, alongside commentary from Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, has shed light on the factors behind Polkadot’s steady decline. According to Nonzee, one of the biggest problems was that Polkadot’s technology, while impressive, was not developer-friendly. Built using Substrate and Rust, the network posed a steep learning curve. Compared to EVM-compatible chains like Ethereum or Avalanche, Polkadot’s environment discouraged newer developers and created friction in onboarding." momentum.cardano.iog.io/proposals/deve…

Agree! Leios and great DevX is an amazing combo! Leios increases the capacity, and great DevX attracts developers who build products and services that fill it! If you care about increasing on-chain activity, consider voting YES to: momentum.cardano.iog.io/proposals/deve…

Now that you mention it, I strongly believe that Leios is just as critical as our DevX proposal. @theroberm is leading that effort brilliantly. This is how I see it: Leios brings the capacity for the system to have big adoption without compromising security or stability. But the DevX proposal will make it easier for developers and builders to come to Cardano and start being productive quickly. A good DevX is what will drive our success . If I was a DRep I would treat these two proposals as a combo!

Have you ever stopped to think about Cardano’s developer experience? 🪏 Well, Robertino (@theroberm) certainly has. And not only that, he has spent years contributing through education at @IOGroup and across multiple community initiatives. Robertino stopped by the testimonial hall to share his perspective. Have you had the chance to review his proposal? How did you vote? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Hi, @jiaozibullish, I'm the proposal's lead. Thank you so much for taking the time to do a thorough review! 🙇 I'd like to challenge the arguments against, if I may. I'll put the translation to give context, in case it was mistranslated. "Developer experience matters, but it's not a current survival-level public infrastructure priority." I see how each person can have different opinions about how important something has to be to be a priority. In my opinion, we're in a very dire position regarding developers. In the last 6 years, Ethereum grew by ~2000 developers/year, while Cardano grew by ~80 devs/year (see graph). That means that every year, the amount of products and services being built in Eth (and other ecosystems) keeps growing while we virtually stay the same. At this rate, the gap will keep growing until we become completely irrelevant. That's why I believe this should be a top priority. We can't afford not to be a priority. Here's the statistical analysis and reasoning in detail: x.com/compose/articl… "There's overlap with other proposals on related content, such as tools, documentation, community support, and developer outreach." I can see how this could seem to be the case. Luckily, I made sure that's not the case. I met with CF, Intersect, and dozens of builders. Edited drafts in OSS repos open to feedback months in advance, presented at the Buidler Fest, and took CF's Dev Surveys and my 5y of experience into account. This proposal was written by me, but created with the builder community to ensure the highest ROI and no overlap. "Documentation and tool improvements should be bundled as supporting deliverables for core R&D projects, not repeatedly spun into new standalone grants." Yes, that should be the case, but that's not what we're talking about here. No other proposal is responsible for creating generic onboarding, tooling, and libraries that benefit every developer and tooling builder equally. If each tool takes care of itself and its documentation, we get the fragmented ecosystem we have right now. Here's the full-length explanation of why asking for docs for each proposal is needed but not enough: x.com/theroberm/stat… I hope this helps to provide more context. I'm available to answer any questions. I appreciate that it takes time and effort to evaluate proposals, so thank you for giving a proper look at mine! 🙇😃

🤔Nuestra presentación en la @Cardano_CF está en inglés? 🇪🇸Aquí un resumen/video explicativo para nuestra comunidad en español :
Cardano Community@Cardano

In this Developers Office Hour, Adriano Fiorenza from @GameChangerOk introduces building intent-based DApps using GCScript DSL and the Universal Dapp Connector (UDC). 🚀 The session details a user-first approach for Web3 apps on #Cardano: - Zero-Installation: DApp connectivity with minimal dependencies. - Universal Protocols: Integration via URL links, QR codes, and NFC. - Client-Side Logic: GCScript for browser-based, high-efficiency experiences.

The problem I want to solve: Developers choose to build on other blockchains instead of ours. In many cases, because the cost of building in Cardano is too high compared to the projected upside. I believe we can significantly reduce the cost by implementing this proposal.

Most community members don't have time to read all the proposals in depth. I've been told they have a life outside Cardano.🤯This translates into (in my case) a lot of misunderstandings. So, I figured I'll provide the TLDR here and answer any questions in the replies. 🧵👇

TOKEN2049 Singapore is the largest Web3 event of the year, and this October it sits at the centre of the most concentrated week on the global business calendar. F1. Milken. Forbes CEO Conference. SuperReturn. TIME100. All in Singapore. With Dubai cancelled, there’s no second venue, no fallback week, no other place where this much capital and attention will converge in 2026. Cardano needs to be there. The conversations that move ecosystems forward happen when the right people are in one place, and those people will be there in October. The proposal to make that happen is live now.
