I am extremely grateful for being able to participate, listen and help formulate ideas as we all work towards making this world a better place. Much work ahead. As a farmer who is engaged in these kinds of events, we can bring a valuable angle in the conversations.

Being a farmer who believes in collaboration, innovations, and biotechnology, attending this symposium is a learning experience. There is a need to be inclusive to meet the increasing global population. Farmers rights is for all systems. More work ahead.

As a farmer, we do care for the protection of varieties under the stewardship of indigent groups. However, we are more concern about the desperate need to meet production goals that will feed the masses. We can only do that through modern and innovative approaches.

Science is hard. It questions itself. It updates. It fails, learns, and tries again. It’s slow, boring, rigorous and that’s what makes it work. Pseudoscience? It gives you certainty. It gives you villains. It gives you fear. Neatly packaged and ready to share. Science says: “We’re 95% sure.” Pseudoscience screams: “WAKE UP SHEEPLE!” One builds self driving cars. The other builds conspiracy theories. One saved your life with antibiotics, vaccines, clean water. The other sells you detox teas and mistrust. We don’t need less science. We need less bullshit dressed up like science.

My FAO (UN) speaking experience is just starting to sink in. It was like a scene from a movie and I was part of it. It was surreal. It was such an extraordinary feeling speaking in front of a very special group of audience. (Part 1)

The bottleneck to unlocking the full potential of agricultural biotechnologies, even with cutting-edge innovation pathways, is not the tech itself, but the socio-economic and ideological barriers preventing their localization and equitable access for us farmers.
