paraphrase from the Discussion: In studies of groundwater recharge, assumption of homogeneous subsurface conditions can produce results that don't accurately represent real streams. This limits the effectiveness of decision-support tools used by land/catchment managers.

Biota from rivers which are sometimes/often dry - diverse, abundant, we should get to know them better! #habitat #nonperennial #rivers

#nonperennial rivers aren't just non-working versions of "normal" rivers, they have their own suite of characteristics. Catchment and land management needs to start from good information!
Checo(S.A.)SalinRodr@SASalinasRodrig

4/10 Such a method was implemented in #NonPerennial rivers with the same criteria. On-site outcomes in different #Streamflow types revealed that ephemeral streams & intermittent rivers depend differently on hydrology, climate & geography/orography than #Perennials.

This morning I'm digging through the history of river research in Australia. Check out this beautiful piece I found from 1980, on calculating river volume using simple tracers. Clear and concise. Apparently it's never been cited. @ADRN_rivers publish.csiro.au/sr/pdf/SR98001…
