Not the 50th birthday celebrations we had planned for Ethan’s dad @andyr_mcclean but sometimes that’s our crazy life on this rollercoaster of life with Ethan and we just have to hang on and ride it. As Ethan’s still a little under the weather and testing positive for Covid we will celebrate today with cake and our daughter and her fiancé in our back garden ❤️

For 5 years we’ve managed to keep Ethan away from Covid - many people asked why we had been so careful, why we chose to home school away from the risks. Were we being over protective of him, the short answer is NO. We are 2 days into Covid with Ethan and in 2 days he’s rapidly going down hill. We made a joint decision after a lengthy discussion yesterday with the Covid team to wait and see how his symptoms were progressing before pumping him full of antivirals. Today we’re nearly at the point of making the call to say he needs them as he’s declining, and the struggle to breathe is just becoming to much on his tiny body. I’ve slept in his room these last 2 nights, on a normal night without Covid Ethan has dips in his oxygen levels which mean he requires bipap but listening to him struggle to even get a breath with Covid is a whole different world of fear. THIS IS WHY WE FEARED HIM CATCHING COVID !!!! NOT being over protective parents, we knew how dangerous Covid is to him but we have to weigh up him living some sort of a life compared to hiding him away from the world. We will continue to keep you all updated on his progress. P.S. he did get his cast off yesterday, his fracture is still there but it is stable enough for him to be out of cast. He has to start physio now for the next 6-8 weeks to try and regain strength, hopefully back to what strength he had before the fall.

After a fantastic weekend at playoffs, Ethan’s resolve is being tested AGAIN. After 5 years we knew it (Covid) would eventually catch him at some point - now starts ANOTHER worrying time and trying to access antivirals etc Today he asked me what was the point as he just seems to be fighting one battle after another, then the tears just flowed until there was none left in him to shed. He’s strong, he’s brave. We need him to want to keep going !!!! 🥺😢💔
