Actually, a huge portion of the Auburn fanbase is basically like "hope we get in, but if we don't it's our own fault", with some slight variations on either side of that. Obviously our coach and administration will go to bat for us, as they should, but that's really all it is.
But Alabama football could be 6-6 in a down year for the SEC and 3 cupcake OOC games, and their fans would still probably find a way to argue that they belong in the playoffs, and then their AD would write an open letter about how they were robbed. And after all that, they'd lose their bowl game.

When it comes down to it, the bubble is ass this year and by metrics, Auburn should probably get in. However, it’s been very funny seeing their fanbase say how SOS and other metrics matter now after attacking Bama fans for the same take regarding last year’s CFP.
